New Zealand Light Leathers
The client was New Zealand Light Leathers - the largest processor of farmed deer leather in the world. Its processed skins can be found in the fashion houses of Europe, as handbags, garments and small leathergoods.
The purpose of the website was to provide NZLL's customers with background information on a company, which was on the other side of the world from them.
Leather is a natural product - it is not uniform - and the customer recognises this can be a challenge when sourcing leather. The key message was: this is a company with the scale to satisfy significant orders, yet the quality of staff and processes to generate a consistently premium product.
As a copywriter, it was a challenge was to communicate the tactile qualities of high-end leather, without sounding like an aspiring poet. Using words of the trade - such as finish, handle and colour - kept the tone professional and relevant, while also conveying that NZLL's people cared passionately about these traits.
