St Clair Beach Resort

St Clair Beach Resort is the first purpose-built hotel to be constructed in Dunedin for decades. The resort is situated on Dunedin's beloved St Clair Esplanade – which means there is nothing between guests and the ever-changing view of the Pacific Ocean.

The client was after a brochure for potential guests. It needed to communicate both the unique setting and the quality of the resort itself. With an equally impressive restaurant on site, there was a lot of information to include, yet – as is always critical – it was necessary to do so in as few words as possible.

The client and designer cleverly moved the final sentence of the submitted text – Come and experience Dunedin - like you've never experienced it before – up to the top of the inside spread. The statement was designed to resonate with Dunedinites, who might be looking for a special weekend away. However, it also worked with those further afield, reinforcing the resort's romantic setting and feel. By moving it to the top of the page and setting it in a different font, it immediately pulled the reader in to the text.
